Horse Racing Betting, A Beginners Guide (Part 2)

In part one we went over how to pick contending horses by looking at the jockey, trainer and then finished off by looking at the form of the horse. By looking at the factors we went over last time you should now have been able to select some winners.

In this article I’m going to give you a few more tips on how to select winners and give you a few more factors to look for to narrow down your potential selections

The first factor you need to look for is if any horses have already won a race on that course or at that distance. To do this you need to look at the right hand side of the horses name. The letters you will see will be a ‘C’ if the horse has won at the course before and a ‘D’ if the horse has won a race at the same distance. Sometimes you will see a ‘CD’ which means that the horse has won a race at the same distance which was at this course. This is very good as the potential selection has already won a very similar race and there is no reason why it can’t win again.

One thing you must be careful about when looking at this is that the race may be of a higher class meaning that the selection is racing against better horses which lowers his chance of winning.

There is plenty more factors to take into account when selecting winning horses and when looking at horse racing betting to help you select winners.

The Secrets of the Big Numbers

Pssst…! Wanna know a secret?

How about the secrets of the Big Six and Big Eight?

As you might know, the Big Six and Eight are even money bets. This means that if you bet $12 and win, you win $12. If you placed $12 on the regular six or eight you would win $14, at 7:6 odds. The casino gives a lot of space to the big six and eight, so beginners who are afraid to give the dealer a place bet can bet directly on the Big Numbers in the corner. In most cases these bets should be avoided.

Wanna know how craps pros use the Big Numbers?

Let’s find out!

There are two good uses for the Big Six and Eight. The first involves those "match play" coupons so common in the Casino fun books. Most of these coupons state they are for flat bets only, and are usually used for pass or don’t pass bets, with no odds. If you put a match play coupon for $5 along with $5 on the pass line, you take a chance on getting stuck with a 4 or 10. But if you put your $5 coupon along with $5 on the Big Six or Eight, you are getting the best bet you can get, under the circumstances. If the six or eight hits, you’ll get back $10 in real money. Not as good as placing the numbers, but you can’t use a match-play coupon with place numbers.

The other good use of the Big Six or Eight involves table limits. If you happen to hit a really hot table and have progressed your bets on the place 6 and 8 up to the table limit, then the dealers will not let you increase your place bets. However, they will always let you make additional flat bets on the Big Numbers in addition to your place bets. So instead of a $1000 table limit, you now have a $2000 limit on the six and eight. This becomes especially useful in tournament play.

In a tournament, the winning crapshooters are usually decided in the last few moments of a game. It is not uncommon to see someone place $480 on the place 6 & 8, as well as on the big six and eight, hoping for a six or eight on the last few rolls of the dice. If the six or eight does roll, they’ll receive $480 for the Big Number bet, and $560 for the place bet – a total of $1040 for one roll of the dice!

Pssst…! Now you know the secrets of the Big Numbers!

Blackjack for Beginners

‘Blackjack’ is one of the oldest games played in United States of America. Generally it is believed that the game got its name from the manner in which it is played. When a player had a jack along with an ace of spade in the first hand, the player was paid extra money. So, in this game the black spades are as crucial as jacks. From this it was termed as ‘Blackjack’. The origination of the game can be traced back to world war I, when the game was quite popular among the troops since it had the benefit to be played at any time and anywhere. Now the game has entered all the casinos and has a huge fan following. Blackjack beat Faro is largely adored and played in the casinos of Las Vegas and Reno.

The Game-

This game is played by more than a few players on a horseshoe kind of table. The base player is the one who is at the end to the dealer’s right. The initial step will be the shuffling of the cards by the dealer. Later you are supposed to cut the cards with a card sized piece of plastic by sliding it between the deck of cards. The dealer will lift the cards above the plastic along with the plastic to place them below the deck. A cautious eye at the placement activity of dealer will be helpful in the game. Next, the top card is set aside by the dealer in order to avoid any kind of cheating in the game. This is known as the burning of the card. This is followed by the dealer’s putting a colored card at about the third way from the bottom of the deck and placement of another card at the last place i.e. at the bottom of the deck.

If the table is full, it signifies an already commenced game. You ask for the chips to play the game and make a bet, which should match at least the minimum bet for the game. Its at the player’s discretion to decide if he wants to with big or small bets and the table accordingly. The dealer deals each player a card face up. The final card that the dealer receives is face down and is known as the ‘hole card’. Then each player is given a face up card as his second card. The value of this second card is the measure to decide whether to take further cards or not. After all players complete their hands ultimately the dealer selects the dealer card for completing the dealer’s hand.

The winner-

The person who is crowned as the winner is the one who has a higher total than the dealer without braking 21. In other words, he comes closest to 21 without exceeding or lagging behind too much. The stand off situation is that when the player and the dealer have the same total and so there is no winner and so no loser.

When you bet, keep this strategy in mind that you have to get 21 on your first two cards. There are various pay off ratios like 2:3 etc. at different casinos. Similarly there are other features attached to the betting process like ‘insurance’ etc. It is advisable to have a prior knowledge of the rules of the game and its betting strategies.

Slot Machine Odds

It probably more appropriate to call slot machines entertainment than gambling, as the house always – and we mean always – has an edge with slot machines.

The average slot machine payout ranges from an average of 85% to 99% of all coins bet. The lower the denomination of the machine, the lower the payout. This is because the casino wants to make a certain amount per hour with its slots. With a one dollar slot machine, the casino can payback perhaps 98% and make it’s hourly goal. With a lower denomination machine, such as quarters or nickels, the payout must be much lower to achieve the same hourly pay for the casino

There are two types of slot machine payouts: flat rate and progressives. A flat rate machine pays the same percentage based on only that machine’s results. With progressive machines, many machines are linked together electronically and the jackpot gets progressively larger the more players that play and the greater the time in between winning jackpots.

Our advice is to play the flat rate machines and avoid the progressives. The odds against winning the jackpot are much higher on progressives. In many cases, your odds of winning the state lottery are better! Play the non-progressive machines where you at least have a chance at the jackpot.

SHOULD YOU PLAY MAXIMUM COINS ARE NOT?

The answer to this question depends on one thing: is the jackpot bigger proportionally for maximum coins bet? If it is, play maximum coins. If it isn’t, then simply play the minimum and your money will last longer.

To illustrate, let’s assume you want to play a machine that has a three coin maximum bet. Should you play the maximum? Look at the payout information. If the jackpot amount for one coin bet is 1,000, for two coins 2,000 and for three coins 5,000, then the jackpot is bigger proportionally for three coins and you should bet the maximum coins. This is because the maximum coins to bet is three times the minimum but the maximum coin jackpot is five times the amount of the minimum coin jackpot. This means your jackpot odds are better if you play the maximum coins.

In this same example, if the three coin jackpot was 3,000 instead of 5,000, then you should only play one coin at a time because there is no odds advantage to playing maximum coins.

One disadvantage of playing maximum coins, even if the jackpot is proportionally larger, is that smaller, less-than-jackpot payouts are usually not proportionally larger for maximum coins played. It’s only the jackpot that is proportionally larger. For this reason, we recommend only playing minimum coins on machines that do no have a proportionally larger jackpot for maximum coins. This way, you money will last longer and you increase your odds of winning smaller jackpots and maybe coming away a slight winner.

Good Luck!

Lucky Texas Holdem Tips

Texas holdem poker is one of the few online casino games in which you can actually consistently make money. These lucky texas holdem tips will put you in the driver’s seat of most online poker rooms.

You can use these lucky Texas holdem tips to gain the advantage at most short handed poker tables. Many poker players believe that luck plays a large part in Texas Holdem Poker, but the truth is, if you’re good enough you can win at least one big bet an hour.

That means that if you’re playing a $5/$10 game you’ll make a PROFIT of at least $10 an hour. Compare that to playing craps, roulette or slots.

The secret to a successful poker strategy is being in control of the table at all times.

You want to stamp your authority on the game, so that everyone else is simply reacting to your moves.

To do this you’ll have to employ a number of Texas Holdem poker tricks and tips, and if you are up against some experienced players it could take a little while to get the better of them.

To begin with you’ll need to have a good understanding of the types of poker players at the table so that you can read their hands accurately and predict their play.

Often you’ll need a few rounds to gain that information. The best players to sit down with are tight-passive players, they’ll only raise with strong hands and it’s easy to push these players off their weak hands.

Remember: It’s much easier to control a short handed table, one with about four or five players. At full tables you’re less likely to accurately read everyone’s hands.

Play Poker now! At the Trident Poker online casino you’ll find loads of online poker rooms.

Once you’ve picked up on everyone’s playing style, you can begin to assert yourself on the table. You’ll notice that at short handed poker tables you’ll be able to bluff most players off their hands, but if they’re coming out strong and matching your bets don’t get dragged in with them unless you have a very strong hand.

Controlling the table means knowing when to dodge your opponent’s strong hands and when to pick up wins on their weaker hands.

Always mix up your play, consider checking even if you’re sitting with a definite winning hand (Three of a kind or better) . I n the final round go big, hopefully you’ll trick at least one player into thinking you’re bluffing to try and steal the pot.

Folding hands pre-flop often will also reinforce your strength at the table. The other players will think you’re very selective about which hands to bet on. This will make it easy to bluff.
